As doors opened for the 2015 Delaware Investments U.S. Open, U.S. Skill Level Championships players filtered in with racquet bags on their back following the opening day of play on Drexel’s Kline & Specter squash courts.

For the first time, the U.S Skill Level Championships were held in conjunction with the U.S. Open, providing the ultimate weekend of squash including competing in the skill levels for the day with all matches ending before the professional matches so that all participants can enjoy the showcase of the world’s best squash players as they work on raising their own games.

Play started today in 8 Skill divisions from 3.0 to 6.0 Men’s and Women’s draws. 90 Players traveled from across the country, from San Francisco, Texas and Georgia to more local players from Philadelphia, New York and Connecticut.

“Old rivalries were renewed and new friendships were made as the first rounds completed,” said tournament director Kim Clearkin. “It’s fantastic to see how enthusiastic the players are about watching the professional matches later on tonight, while also preparing for their own matches tomorrow.”

Since 1983, US Squash has determined the best players of each rating at a national championship.

All matches are scoring live on www.clublocker.com through finals day on Saturday.
