Two spots in qualifying for the 2015 Delaware Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships will be determined Thursday, September 17, during a special pre-qualifying finals night at Drexel University’s Kline & Specter squash courts.

The event is free admission open to the general public and Drexel students with the matches taking place at 6:30pm and 7:15pm local time. A complimentary reception will take place at Landmark Americana, located adjacent to the Drexel University Recreation Center, following the last final.

Spectators will also receive a special on-site discount for U.S. Open tickets.

The men’s finals includes familiar faces in Bradbury Thompson and Parth Sharma. Both Sharma and Thompson lost in pre-qualifying finals in 2013 and 2014 respectively, but reached qualifying due to last minute withdrawals.

Both Thompson and Sharma will face coaches from Fairmount Athletic Club. Thompson takes on Australian international Michael Fiteni, who is competing in his first pre-qualifying final, while Sharma awaits Scottish international Lyall Patterson.

One women’s final has already been contested with University of Pennsylvania graduate Nabilla Ariffin defeating Trinity graduate Alicia Rodriguez Acosta in four games to clinch a spot in women’s qualifying next month.

Berwyn Squash & Fitness professional Georgina Stoker will aim to clinch the second women’s spot for the third consecutive year. She will face either Morgan Steelman—who just represented Team USA in the Pan American Junior Championships—or Haverford College head coach Niki Clement. Due to scheduling conflicts, this match will take place at a later time.

Matches will be scored live on usopensquash.com/live powered by www.clublocker.com starting at 6:30pm ET.
