This October, the world’s best squash professionals, U.S. juniors and adults, as well as industry leaders and squash fans will gather at Drexel University in Philadelphia for the festival of squash that is the 2016 Delaware Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships fortnight, October 6-15.
As global squash stars wow the crowds as they battle for a purse of $300,000 with full parity for the men and women, the U.S. Open offers numerous opportunities for fans to jump on court themselves. Auxiliary competitions include the Junior Championship Tour (JCT) Pennsylvania and Intercollegiate Doubles Championships, both held during the first weekend of the U.S. Open, and US Squash Skill Level Championships held October 15-16. Tournament participants for each event receive tickets to the U.S. Open as part of a unique event experience.
The best and brightest minds in squash will drive the sport forward during the second annual Squash Summit, October 13-14, bringing together leaders and fans from all areas of the sport. The Summit will be structured around panel discussions that focus on best practices, growth of the game, and innovations changing the squash landscape. The conference is geared towards teaching professionals, school and college coaches, entrepreneurs, event promoters, and district leaders, as well as anyone simply interested in being involved in the success of the game.
Unique special events will again be held throughout the U.S. Open itself. Women in Sports Day, Character in Sports Day, Junior Day celebrate those making an impact on squash around the U.S. and worldwide, while the history of the game will be honored at the Hall of Fame Induction Luncheon.
