Former world No. 1 and 2013 U.S. Open semifinalist Karim Darwish has withdrawn from the 2014 Delaware Investments U.S. Open due to a hamstring injury.

Darwish joins the likes of Ramy Ashour, Joelle King, and James Willstrop who have all been forced out of the U.S. Open as a result of injuries.

The thirty-three-year-old Egyptian’s absence has shifted Simon Rösner up to sixth seed, Omar Mosaad to seventh seed, Laurens Jan Anjema eighth seed, and moved Scotland’s Alan Clyne into the main draw from qualifying.

Connecticut-based Englishman Lewis Walters now enters the tournament in qualifying.
