U.S. veteran Chris Gordon will make his sixth consecutive appearance as the men’s wild card at the 2017 U.S. Open presented by Macquarie Investment Management at Drexel University.
The world No. 64 from New York City will be competing in his eleventh U.S. Open this October.
“It was very exciting to learn that this would be my eleventh time competing in the U.S. Open,” Gordon said. “It is an event steeped in history and it’s an honor to get the chance to compete on the glass court against some of the world’s best.”
Gordon has played on the glass court in Drexel’s Daskalakis Athletic Center all six years since the tournament moved to Philadelphia in 2011.
“It’s been very exciting the last several years getting to see the event evolve and grow at Drexel and I’m looking forward to getting down to Philadelphia and playing some great squash,” Gordon said.
Last year, Gordon lost out against world No. 4 Nick Matthew in the first round. Gordon will face one of the world’s top-ranked players in the main draw’s first round, October 7-8.
