First round of U.S. Open pre-qualifiers underway

The first round of Men’s local pre-qualifying matches for the 2013 Delaware Investments U.S. Open are all but complete, and the first round of Women’s pre-qualifying matches are set to begin in the coming weeks.

The Men’s and Women’s pre-qualifying draws give top Philadelphia-area players the chance to earn positions in the qualifying draws of the U.S. Open. Matches are played in clubs across the city, with the tournaments culminating in a finals night at Drexel University in September.

John White 2In addition to the positions earned through the pre-qualifying tournaments, local spots in the qualifying draws will be allotted to top U.S. Players from the College Squash Association, the highest-ranked players from the U.S. Boys’ and Girls’ Under 19 divisions, and U.S. National Team and PSA/WSA players. The men’s qualifying draw will also feature John White – former World no. 1 and Head Coach of U.S. Open host Drexel University.
