Desaulniers and Heckscher Brothers Inducted into U.S. Squash Hall of Fame

At a special luncheon before the finals of the 2017 United States Open, Michael Desaulniers, Benjamin Heckscher and Maurice Heckscher were inducted into the United States Squash Hall of Fame.

Mark Pagon, the chair of the board of US Squash, welcomed a large crowd of friends, fans and family to the gala luncheon next to the ASB GlassCourt in the Drexel’s Daskalakis Athletic Center. “We take the responsibility of the selection process very seriously as an organization,” he said. “Induction into our Hall of Fame is the highest honor in squash.”

U.S. Open Celebrates World Squash Day on Finals Night

The sixteenth-annual World Squash Day was celebrated in style at the 2017 United States Open. With a U.S. Squash Hall of Fame luncheon and induction ceremony, a large U.S. Skills Championship in full swing and two riveting matches that concluded the ten-day U.S. Open, thousands of people at Drexel had the chance to play squash, reunion with friends courtside and watch world-class squash.

The 2017 United States Open has featured a number of exciting ways for fans to engage with all the action.

The Dunlop Meet & Greet Experience allowed Raymond Wong and Patricia Arroyl to have the rare opportunity to spend time with a PSA professional. They were thrilled to talk with Diego Elias, the Peruvian wunderkind and world No. 15, and talk about life on the PSA World Tour. They also received a Dunlop Prize Pack, including a racquet bag and a racquet.

Maryland Club Open Given SDA Tournament of Year Award

The Squash Doubles Association, the men’s North American pro doubles tour, handed out its coveted Tournament of the Year Award at the 2017 United States Open to the Maryland Club.

Graham Bassett, the SDA’s tour director, handed out the award to Andrew Cordova, the head squash pro, Hugh McGurk, tournament chariman and Stewart Shettle, squash committee chariman of the Maryland Club.
