Signature Series Events will return this fall to the 2015 Delaware Investments U.S. Open, and offer a unique opportunity for you to attend events that are of personal importance.
These special events will be held over nine days of amazing squash play, and include:
Junior Day, Monday October 12 – Junior Day brings together junior players with the SquashSmarts Urban Squash program, Drexel Campus, and Philadelphia public schools to enjoy special activities and professional matches at the U.S. Open. Those under eighteen get free admission at the door! Last year juniors tested their strength against the radar gun, played some “squash bowling,” and enjoyed round of sixteen professional matches. Join us for Junior Day at the U.S. Open and celebrate the fun of youth squash!
Top 50 Day, Tuesday October 13 – The Top Fifty is coming to the U.S. Open. Last year the inaugural Top Fifty special edition of Squash Magazine was one of the most talked-about issues in the long history of the magazine. Squash Magazine ranks the fifty most interesting, intriguing and influential people in the game in America. The second-annual list comes out in the October 2015 issue, and all those selected in the Top Fifty will be welcomed to an on-court celebration on Tuesday, October 13, during the second round of the Open. There are some exciting new faces in the Top Fifty this year—some world-famous, some unexpected, some just plain amazing. Don’t miss this opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the most compelling squash personalities in the game.
Women in Sports Day, Wednesday October 14 – The tradition continues with the second annual Women in Sports Day at the U.S. Open, featuring a cocktail reception and ceremony to honor the accomplishments and contributions of women in squash and the broader sports world. Reception attendees will then proceed to the glass court to watch some of the best female athletes in the world compete on. Last year more than a dozen national champions, winners of the Achievement Bowl, and even current WSA stars including World No. 1 Nicol David, joined in on the celebrations—don’t miss out this year, buy your tickets now!
Character in Sports Day, Thursday October 15 – Character in Sports Day honors athletes who have demonstrated those values which best define the sport of squash – sportsmanship, fair play, and a sense of community. Character in Sports Day brings attention to these ideals at a cocktail reception and ceremony in the Drexel Recreation Center gathering together past recipients of national sportsmanship awards at the junior, collegiate, and adult level prior to quarterfinal match play. Help us highlight the values that make squash special at the Character in Sports Day.
2015 U.S. Open Squash Champions Day, Saturday October 17 – Before the dust of intense competition settles, the U.S. Squash Hall of fame will induct the Class of 2015 and honor current members immediately before the Finals. This luncheon, held in a striking setting immediately adjacent to the glass court, celebrates the immense accomplishments and contributions the new and current Hall of Famers have given to the game of squash. The Champions Reception will be held as the culminating event of the Delaware Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships. Immediately following the Finals matches, guests will join the current and past U.S. Open Champions for drinks and hors d’oeuvres to recognize the achievements of these incredible athletes. Cap your U.S. Open experience off in style and reserve your seat for the Champions Day now!
